    Birth Center Tours

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering an orientation and tour of the hospital maternity facilities and the sequence of events surrounding the hospital experience. The maternity tour is open to the expectant mother and her support person. No children under the age of 10 are allowed on the tour. Cost: Free, there is a Rescheduling fee of $10.00 to change a date of a previously booked tour.

    Breastfeeding

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering a single information packed class, which prepares the new mom and her partner in the how to's of breastfeeding.

    This class will include: getting started at the hospital and continuing at home, avoiding problems that may complicate your experience, proper latching onto breast, hints on how your partner can help you, and physical and emotional adjustments for the breastfeeding family.

    Early registration is advised. (Leave an alternate date) This is a very popular class!.

    $30.00 per couple

    Fitness Class for Cancer Patients

    A 12-session exercise and fitness class is conducted in the rehabilitation department at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. A licensed physical therapist conducts a personal evaluation of your special fitness needs and provides monitored, observed exercise classes to help you maintain strength during treatment and recovery. Educational information is provided about safe strengthening activities and wellness. A physician’s medical release is necessary to attend this class.

    Healthy Eating During Cancer Treatment

    A Clinical Dietician provides information on nutrition and ways to handle the side effects of treatment. The discussion includes food preparation and supplements.

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering a single class designed to help children 3-7 years old prepare for the arrival of a new baby in the family. Includes storybook time, related play activities and a brief maternity tour.(no 2 1/2 year olds)Cost: $20.00 PER CHILD

    Look Good…Feel Better

    Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, this monthly class is offered in the Sacramento and Roseville areas. It is conducted by cosmetologists and cancer survivors and teaches women going through cancer treatment how to enhance their appearance with accessories and complimentary skin care products and cosmetics.

    Maternity Orientation & Tour

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering a maternity tour of the labor/delivery and postpartum units of the hospital designed to orient you to the hospital and the admission process.

    The maternity tour is open to the expectant mother and her support person only. *NO CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED ON THE TOUR.*

    Registration is required. (Leave an alternate date incase the tour you are requesting is full.) Cost: Free, there is a Rescheduling fee of $10.00 to change a date of a previously booked tour.

    Dr. Foster Cline, child psychiatrist and co-founder of the Love and Logic Institute and Lisa Greene, co-author of Parenting Children with Health Issues will present a class which is open to parents, caregivers and clinicians working with children with chronic health issues.

    OB Anesthesia

    This class is essential to understand pain management during labor. An OB Anesthesiologist explains pain medicine and epidural analgesia. You will learn what's new about pain medication including walking epidurals and intrathecal narcotics: a popular video is shown. By attending this class you can expedite the epidural process by being informed prior to labor.

    Prosthesis Fitting Clinic

    Sutter Cancer Center, Roseville Breast Health Center in conjunction with Nordstrom, offers a monthly consultation session for women who have experienced surgery or treatment that has altered the shape or size of their breasts. These sessions include options for lingerie, fitting advice and products that will meet women’s needs. For appointment call (916) 781-1718

    Ready, Set, Deliver Childbirth Preparation Class (Naturally)

    Same information as the Ready, Set, Deliver series, with an additional interactive labor rehearsal class.

    This class will actively practice positive positions, breathing, and relaxation techniques. It is designed for expectant parents hoping to minimize the use of medication and intervention during childbirth. A tour of the Birth Center is included.

    It is recommended to take a series that will end approximately one month before your due date.

    Cost: $85.00 per couple.

    Ready, Set, Deliver Childbirth Preparation Class (One Day)

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering a ONE DAY information packed childbirth preparation (also includes breathing and relaxation techniques) class.

    The class is to prepare the mother and her support person for labor and delivery (no tour is included with this class). Class will break for a short lunch, so bring a snack and lunch.

    Cost: $120.00/couple.

    Ready, Set, Deliver Childbirth Preparation Class (Series)

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering an information packed childbirth preparation (includes breathing and relaxation techniques) series, which prepares the mother and her support person for labor, delivery, and postpartum experiences.

    It is recommended to take a series that will end approximately one month before your due date.A Maternity Tour is encluded in this class.

    Cost: $75 per couple.

    Safe Start

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering a single class designed to assist in providing a safe environment for your infant. This class includes must know instruction on INFANT CPR, practicing on infant mannequins (this class is not for certification), up to date information on car seat and home safety. Cost:$30.00/COUPLE

    Surviving the First Month

    Sutter Childbirth Education is offering an essential single class to educate the first time parents on how to survive the first month at home with a new baby. Class includes information on comforting skills, swaddling, baby ques, developing day and night routines, sleep and awake states and communicating with your baby. A must for all new parents with little or no experience. Cost: $30.00/COUPLE

    Sutter Auburn Faith offers a free Birth Center Tour every Saturday at 11 a.m. for the expectant mom and her partner. No registration is necessary, just show up.

    Mammogram and Dexa Scan Screening

    Sutter Roseville Breast Health Center offers comprehensive breast health services including mammography, Dexa scan, breast ultrasound, core needle biopsies, education classes, support groups, and a breast health nurse to answer questions and offer emotional support.     Special Events

    Clinical Research

    Sutter Cancer Center Clinical Research Program offers patients diagnosed with cancer the option of benefiting from new experimental treatments. It also provides the opportunity for patients with cancer to contribute to advancements and knowledge in the treatment of cancer that will benefit future generations. Research studies are available that are sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and pharmaceutical companies for several cancer diagnoses.

    Support Groups

    Adult Beareavement Support Group

    Grief is a natural response to loss for even the most courageous or prepared among us. This support group is offered as a community service and is facilitated by an experienced counseling professional. Participants are invited to attend the group meeting at any time that seems personally appropriate. There is no fee for this service. Call (916) 797-7850 for more information.

    Adult Family Members & Friends of Cancer Patients

    A diagnosis of cancer affects more than just the patient; families and friends experience the emotional turmoil, as well. This ongoing support group, facilitated by an oncology social worker who is also a cancer survivor, provides a safe and confidential atmosphere. Members have the opportunity to share common feelings and discuss ways of communicating and adjusting to a loved one’s cancer. Participants learn new coping skills and ways to take time for themselves.

    Alcoholics Anonymous

    A support group for people who suffer with alcohol addiction. Family members are welcomed to attend.

    Breast Cancer

    These two support groups, facilitated by an oncology social worker and breast cancer survivor, provide an accepting atmosphere to share common experiences, discover effective stress management techniques, heal emotionally, and glean new insights, perspectives and information. It is not necessary to be a patient of Sutter Cancer Center, Roseville to attend these groups.

    Localized Breast Cancer

    The Oncology Social Worker who is a breast cancer survivor and the Breast Health Nurse facilitate both on-going support groups (Localized & Advanced Stage). The groups provide a safe, confidential atmosphere to share common experiences, discover effective stress management techniques, achieve emotional healing and glean new insights, perspectives and information from other women.

    Mothers Outlet

    Mothers Outlet is a support group for new and soon-to-be mothers. Together you and your infant will participate in this exciting new adventure. Regardless of your background or preparation, you cannot anticipate all the changes that occur at this time in your life. Coming together in a group will provide you the opportunity to share, learn and grow. No pre-registration necessary. Drop-ins welcomed- Just show up! For more information call 733-7080 and press 5.

    Prostate Cancer

    This group is open to men and women affected by prostate cancer. It offers a safe, confidential place to discuss your cancer experience, treatment choices, resources, and family/partner concerns. A Registered Nurse facilitates and addresses medical concerns.

    This support group, facilitated by an oncology social worker and breast cancer survivor, provides an accepting atmosphere to share common experiences, discover coping skills, heal emotionally and gain new information. It is not necessary to be a Sutter Roseville patient.
